   It was 1959 and on the New Jersey shore a bright young man named Ron DiMenna was just discovering the sport of surfing with fiberglass surfboards. The pastime soon became a passion and homemade surfboards would no longer do. When his father heard that Ron wanted his own custom surfboard from California, he suggested, "Buy three, sell two at a profit, then yours will be free." His Dad was right and Ron Jon Surf Shop was born.

"I bought a gray one in Long Beach Island 20 years ago and it has been the first t-shirt out of the drawer ever since. 20 years of washing and drying. Logo is crazed now (last 10 years) and some people like that. Got a Red one about 5 years ago also great but the red ran onto the logo making it a little pink and the red faded. Might have been washed on warm or even hot a few times. I'm sure the pocket was originally to fit a pack of cigarettes. Great for sunglasses or cell phone now. Have a black one too, same shirt no pocket also great. "
